I hope everyone is having a great 2012 so far. I'm on the cusp of changing jobs and I'm a bit concerned about the insurnace implications.
I'm currently covered under a premium United Health Care group plan from a company of 35k employees and it's been excellent. I've been
receiving IGG (currently Hizentra) with this plan with no real complications. The company I'm looking to switch to has around 200 employees,
is based in the England (I'm in US) and does offer a group plan however I'm not sure of the details yet. I'm curious to hear other members
experiences with the health plans offered by smaller companies and expenses invovled. I believe it would be illegal for a company to
single you out for raising the group rate due to a pre-existing condition like CVID however I'm sure it's happened before in a round about
way. In the end I believe I should have the option to keep my current plan using COBRA for 18 months at my own expense which would
probablly be the safest way to go although this route looks like it would cost close to 5k annually. I'd love to hear others experiences with
group health insurance from smaller companies.
