Question Re: Memory B Cells??

Hi, today I got a confirmation of a CVID diagnosis with "profoundly low memory B cells" (I think these are the same thing as the "long life" older mature cells referred to on p. 4 of the IDF Patient and Family Handbook.) Would anyone with some knowledge be able to explain the siginficance of this in introductory language beyond the bit in IDF's books, or point me to an article or two? As I understand it my B cells are few and don't mature well and so don't retain immunity, thus the lack of adequate antibodies and risk of repeated infection...but what else is there to know or understand that might be of benefit?

My background also includes severe allergies and asthma and I was wondering if and how this is related.

(This is a new thread with more specifics, thanks to all who helped with my original question "Is it important to know specifically what kind of PIDD one has?" I made a lot of progress with a new doctor in these last two weeks and am interested to understand more.) Thanks! --RJ
