Description

To be able to connect with other individuals living in South Florida who are dealing with immune diseases.
At the age of 15, our daughter went into renal failure. It turned out to be an autoimmune disorder. We thought that life could not get any worse for her. After having recurrent episodes of sinus infections, she was admitted for a repeat renal biopsy and a work up for the sinus infections. We found out that she also had CVID. Life was getting more interesting by the day. More doctors, more specialists....
She was started on IVIG in Miami and then we found a local physician able to take over her care. That was a relief not to have to travel the two hours each way to Miami. Life has been interesting with the IVIG, insurance has dictated who she can receive treatment through and has made the treatments very challenging. IV access has become an issue - depending on the nurse's capabilities!
This past weekend, our life changed dramatically. We went to the FANTASTIC IDF convention in Orlando and what a difference it has made. We no longer feel like we are alone out here fighting this disease, insurance problems, etc. The conference was amazing. We met so many wonderful people, listened to speakers who seemed to be speaking directly to us and had the chance to talk to many of the vendors at the conference.
Arizona 2011 - here we come! We will never miss another convention, if we can help it.
